flower stencils

Processing.org is an open source scripting language / software sketchbook that can be used to programmatically create geometric patterns and more. I’ve recently been having fun using it to create some stencils. Here are some sample stencils that I created with processing and then cut in tyvek on my Silhouette Cameo 4.

Tyvek is a synthetic material by DuPont that is thin, flexible, and water resistant — making it a great material for creating reusable custom stencils to be used with clay. I bought 9″ x 12″ tyvek envelopes from Amazon and cut them up to use for creating my stencils. You can also buy a roll of tyvek house wrap from a home improvement store such as Lowes or Home Depot. On my Silhouette Cameo 4, I use the following settings with an AutoBlade to cut tyvek:

  • material set to card stock
  • #3 setting
  • force of 10

For those who are interested, these are the envelopes that I bought from Amazon. (Note: as an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases made through this link, but that does not affect the price you pay for the item.)
