FAQ for Pottery Workshops & Classes

What should you wear to class?

Pottery gets messy, so make sure you wear appropriate clothing and footwear (sneakers are best; no open-toed shoes). Most clay and glaze materials will wash out of clothing, but a smock or apron might be appropriate for those who are worried about getting their clothes stained.

Do you need to bring anything?

Drinking water, supplies, and other pottery tools and materials will be provided by Zen Shway Studio. We recommend that you bring:

  • water bottle (to be environmentally friendly!)
  • apron (optional, but recommended)

Completed Projects

The ceramic process requires multiple steps including drying and firing in a kiln. This aftercare means that there will be 2 weeks between class sessions and that your projects will take approximately one more week to be completed after the workshop has ended. Zen Shway Studio will email you when projects are ready for pick up.

  • Class time will include time for clean-up, an integral part of the process
  • All materials and firings are included in the cost of workshops and classes
  • Please Note: Due to the fragile nature of clay and the firing process, work can sometimes get damaged caused by construction issues or the firing or glazing processes. We will make every effort to reduce risks of potential damage or unexpected results.
