Inspired by some pedestal bowls seen and used at a pottery school I attended in Italy for 2 weeks in October 2019.
Textured Vase
This is a short but sweet textured vase — perfect for a few flowers or succulent cuttings.
Small Textured Planter
This would be the perfect new home for a nice little succulent plant.
Multi-Colored Mug
This mug was colored by combining a number of different glazes. It’s hard to predict exactly how the colors will meld together during the glaze firing, but this mug was a definite win.
Drippy Bowl
These natural drips from two glazes interacting are amazing. In many ways, pottery is part science, part art, and part kiln condition magic!
Olive Oil Cruet
I loved this beauty so much when it came out of the kiln that it’s a keeper! 🙂
Happy Winter (post holidays)
In December, I made a few Christmas trees, mostly following a technique shared by Kevin Kowalski on ClayShare. I was pretty happy with how they turned out, and apparently, some of my extended family members liked them too! In December, I let many family members select a pottery item that I made and 2 of my 3 Christmas trees were chosen — the tallest and the smallest ones. They were all glazed differently, as I was testing out different glazes, but they still looked nice together.
Welcome!
Welcome to Zen Shway Studio — home to pottery by Stacie Hibino, and possibly other items by Stacie in the future. You will be seeing and hearing lots more about my pottery adventures here and on other social media this year. Above is one of my favorite mugs from December 2019. It’s a mug with my family crest on it.
